Job Description

This program offers a short-term option to get teaching experience in South America! You’ll spend a week at orientation in Santiago before going to a 10-week teaching assistantship in placements throughout Chile. You’ll live with a host family to get a well-rounded, immersive cultural experience!

2018 Program Dates
April 23rd – July 06th
July 30th – October 12th
August 20th – November 2nd

Schools are located throughout Chile. We have found that these placements provide the most impactful immersion experiences to learn about real Chilean life, and participants have wonderful experiences being placed throughout the country.

Program fee: $1,800 USD

Wondering why you have to pay to teach?
Greenheart Travel is a non-profit organization, and the program fee for this teaching project covers the costs of organizing your placement and support on the program. Your program fee helps cover the pre-departure & in-country support staff. These fees also aid in providing an orientation, logistical support, and insurance.

Before applying, be sure that you meet the eligibility requirements below.
Native English speaker
Citizen of the EU, UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, or Australia
Bachelor’s degree OR TEFL certification (at least a 100 hours online course)
Teaching or tutoring experience preferred
Ages 21-35
Be in great mental and physical health
No criminal record (with the exception of traffic or other minor violations)
Must be open minded, flexible, and adaptable
Must be prepared to make teaching and time with host family a priority


Airport pickup
1-week comprehensive group orientation in Santiago
10-week placements throughout Chile
Transportation from Santiago to your placement city
Monthly stipend of 90,000 Chilean pesos to offset expenses
Homestay with a vetted host family (private bedroom)
2 meals per day with host family
Extensive International medical insurance
Pre-departure support from an experienced program manager
Emergency support and assistance throughout your program
Support from a regional coordinator near your placement

*Program costs do not include the airfare to Santiago, additional meals or free time/travel spending.
